The reason for this is that the one color type of flyer with instructions was intended to be inserted inside the wooden box with the bank by the maker in the factory with the J. Stevens maker's attribution on the flyer. This flyer insert card is printed on thinner paper stock than a standard ad card of the type handed out to advertise the bank.
The card measures 5 1/2 inches by 3 3/16 inches. The card has light overall pleasing even age toning. The lower left edge of card has an area that is slightly scuffed.
Griffith is said to have obtained this insert flyer ad card during a visit to the old J. This card has a pleasing pedigree having previously resided in three significant mechanical bank collections including: F. Griffith, Bill Jones, James Maxwell. Note: the example we are offering in this listing is the exact example pictured in the Morphy Mechanical Banks Book on page 381. A pleasing go with to put with an example of the interesting "Kicking Mule" aka "I Always Did'Spise a Mule" Bank (bench version).
